Festivals

Festivals are great fun and Europe has a number of festivals that must be experienced. There are two festivals here in the UK that we at Trident Tours feature regularly, both which are a celebration of Guy Fawkes.

Probably the UK's best firework night is held each year in Lewes, where people parade in the narrow streets in brightly coloured costumes, setting off loud bangers before the crowds make their way to one of a number of bonfire sites within the town for great firework displays.

In the South West of England they celebrate Guy Fawkes with illuminated carnivals, the floats are covered with lights and people dressed in bright costumes. One such carnival takes place in Glastonbury and we usually combine the trip with a visit to England's smallest city, Wells.

In Europe there are three festivals that we like to visit. In Spain we recommend Las Fallas in Valencia, a huge festival of fire and La Tomatina, also near Valencia where people gather once a year to throw tomatoes at each other! The other European festival that appears on our programme is in Germany, the Munich Beer Festival.

All of these festivals are great fun and should be one everyone's 'to do' list.
