La Tomatina

La Tomatina takes place at the end of August in a town called Buñol near Valencia. The festival is effectively a tomato food fight that attracts young people from all over the world. People who take part are encouraged to wear goggles and gloves.

Although the tearing of another person's clothing is not allowed, this is often ignored which is something women especially need to bear in mind before signing up for this trip!

Like many of the best festivals accommodation and flights sell out months in advance so if you are interested in these events it's wise to book early.
